Description

Pisum sativum

Packet size: ½ oz

Seeds grown at Flytree Farm in Northfield, Vermont.

COMING SOON!!! As it often goes with the naming and stories behind seed varieties, this is a purple podded shelling pea that the Toombs family from Co. Antrim in the North of Ireland had been growing for over a century, but really it came to them as Carruther’s Purple Podded Pea. So it’s also known as the Carruther’s Purple Podded Pea, which is said to have been donated to the Heritage Seed Library in England from a member of the Carruther’s family from Co. Down in the North of Ireland. This shelling pea can get up to 6-feet tall and has gorgeous purple pods and purple and pink flowers. While the pod itself isn’t great for eating, the peas are great when eaten raw or cooked. Seed stock came from the Irish Seeds Savers Association.

We are committed to quality and care a lot about your experience growing these seeds. If you are dissatisfied with anything, please let us know, we’d like to make it right.
