A wonderful, fast-maturing, large, meaty tomato with excellent flavor. The deep red flesh is dense and offers a classic, rich tomato taste, making it ideal for fresh consumption, sandwiches, sauces, and cooking. As an indeterminate variety, it produces vigorous, sprawling vines that require staking or strong caging for support. Due to its size and growth habit, ample space and consistent care are recommended to achieve optimal production. This variety was introduced to the Seed Savers Exchange in 2007 by Jeannine-Marie St. Jacques of Ontario, Canada, who obtained the seeds from Maria Amazilitei of Romania, after whom the tomato is named. All you need is one thick slice of this tomato for your BLT as its size covers the entire slice of bread and then some. We’ve gotten close to 2 pounders but they are reliable heavy producers of 1 lb + fruits. Seed stock shared by John Austin.
