Reine des Glaces, or “Queen of Ice” is a historic French Batavia‑type (crisphead) heirloom lettuce from the late 1800’s. Jaggedey and ruffled outer leaves make for excellent green leaf eating while you wait for the heart to form into a crispy, white dense head in the center. Both heat and cool tolerant, making this a particularly hardy and resilient choice for lettuce. Seed stock shared by Sylvia Davatz.
